WP Kinsella is one of Canada’s foremost writers. He’s written twenty-four books (novels, short stories, poetry and non-fiction). His novel Shoeless Joe was made into the film Field of Dreams. In his interview, Kinsella talks about Ray Bradbury, WD Valgardson, Richard Brautigan, the play Right You Are (If You Think So) by Luigi Pirandello, and the films of Robert Altman.

Here are a few representative Kinsella book titles:
His novel Shoeless Joe began as a short story in the collection Shoeless Joe Jackson Comes to Iowa. Other baseball works include The Iowa Baseball Confederacy, The Thrill of the Grass, Magic Time and The Further Adventures of Slugger McBatt.
Kinsella’s Silas stories are told from the point of view of his fictional creation Silas Ermineskin of the Hobbema Reserve in Alberta. The first collection is Dance Me Outside. Others include Scars, Born Indian and The Fencepost Chronicles. The story Conflicting Statements, mentioned in the interview as being inspired by Rashomon and Right You Are (If You Think So) is in Brother Frank’s Gospel Hour.
The story collection The Alligator Report was written in Richard Brautigan’s style and includes an introduction by Kinsella about his love of Brautigan’s writing.
