Audio Interview with Toby Berner
Toby Berner is a Vancouver based actor and improviser. His totems include Steve Martin, George Carlin, Television, and the Ostrich, specifically in how it buries its head in the sand. In his interview Toby also talks about how he got acting and improvising, about how going to theatre school contributed to his comedy career, and about his role in Hiccups - the upcoming sitcom by Brent Butt.

The fart routine is from Steve Martin’s album Let’s Get Small, and is titled “Smoking”. For more yuks, play this youtube clip to the right - an audio track from that same comedy album.
Those short bits of George Carlin in Toby’s interview are from the album A Place for My Stuff - the only album in which Carlin does in studio skits. His body of work mostly consists of live stand-up, like this clip to the left, from Jammin’ in New York.
Ever see The Gods Must Be Crazy? That film’s director also made a documentary called Animals are Beautiful People. Check out this brilliantly funny footage of ostriches (doing everything but burying their heads in the sand, incidentally).
Toby Berner performs with the sketch group Canadian Content, and improvises every Monday night with Urban Improv at Chivana’s restaurant in Vancouver. He co-starred in a TV movie with Shannen Doherty called The Lost Treasure of the Grand Canyon.
